Just a note to freak out quietly yet publicly over the complete absence of lanes—either as maintained by dividing lines or upheld by driver behavior—on most of the expressway between the Santo Domingo airport and the city proper.
Yet what a joy to be delivered to my air-conditioned room at the Hotel Palacio in the center of Santo Domingo's Zona Colonial in one hour flat, including airline taxi time, immigration, customs, cash machine visit, and frenzied taxi tear.
I'm headed to Santo Domingo on Monday for a quick two-night trip. I expect to remain mostly in the Zona Colonial. Anyone have any essential tips or recommendations for out-of-the-way places to check out? Yes? Great. Feel free to email me your suggestions.
